Really Old Money
I have always been facinated, and a little troubled, by the concept of paper money, or fiat currency. If I think about it too long it makes my head hurt and I have an urge to sell all of my tech stocks and buy gold. One of my passions is studying really old money and the history of fiat currency. These coins are greek and roman money from before 0 B.C. The coin on the right is an example of the worlds first fiat currency. It was issued in Athens about 330 BC to finance the war with Sparta. It looks like silver but it has a copper core.
